Applying for a High Street Job
Majority of high street stores will require you to apply for a job using an application form. Application forms are commonly paper based but are increasingly become available as web based forms. Whichever format the application form comes in the rules for success are the same.
- If the application form is filled in by hand use your best handwriting.
- Make sure you understand the question before writing in your answer.
- Your answers should be clear and to the point.
- Don't leave any question unanswered as your application form will most probably be rejected instantly. If you can't answer a question explain why.
- Make sure you include any additional paperwork that has been asked for such as covering letter or CV.
What if you can't locate a job application form? Many companies only hand out job application forms during periods of increased vacancies such as holidays or a new branch opening. They may accept your CV as an initial job application which is usually handed in the store where you want to apply for a job. If a vacancy is currently not available your CV will be kept on record. It is highly recommended to update your CV regularly.
